Simond Lavian

Simond Lavian, Esq., MBA has nearly 15 years of experience across commercial real estate finance, private credit, lending, investment, and development. His background combines senior institutional credit experience, hands-on real estate ownership and development, and legal training, providing perspective across both the lender and principal sides of complex real estate matters.

As a Managing Director at Calmwater Capital, Mr. Lavian held senior responsibilities across loan origination, underwriting, credit and investment committee decision-making, asset management, construction lending, workouts and restructurings, valuation, enforcement strategy, and loan dispositions. His experience included more than 200 commercial real estate transactions representing nearly $4 billion of real estate credit activity, including performing, distressed, and special-situation investments.

Through LVN Investments, his Los Angeles-based real estate development and investment platform, Mr. Lavian brings active operational experience in entitlement, construction management, and asset repositioning across multifamily and mixed-use product types.

Mr. Lavian regularly worked alongside internal and external counsel on complex borrower and lender disputes, enforcement matters, workouts, litigation strategy, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation. His legal training frequently informed the analysis and strategy surrounding these matters. He has also provided deposition and trial testimony as a fact witness in connection with commercial real estate disputes.
